Instructors

Instructors

There are four full-time and three part-time instructors assigned to the Training Department. The training staff is assisted by twenty-seven adjunct instructors who have completed the Louisiana POST Law Enforcement Instructor and/or Corrections Instructor program.  Many of these instructors have also completed the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Instructor Development Course (IDC).  All firearms instructors are additionally required to complete the POST Firearms Instructor School.

Certifications

Many of our instructors have received instructor certifications from other sources such as American Corrections Association, National Ethics Association, National Safety Council, Monadnock Police Training  Council, Safariland Training Group, and TASER International.

Field Training Officers

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office also has a number of field training officers (FTOs) assigned to the Patrol and Corrections Divisions. These specially trained, senior deputies serve as training officers who mentor new deputies through their daily duties, providing necessary feedback and direction.  The training programs for both Corrections and Patrol officers are supervised and managed by FTO Master Instructors assigned to the training staff.
