Cyber Crime Unit

Function

The Cyber Crimes Unit was started in July of 2009 with the primary function of investigating child pornography on the internet. It is a member of the Louisiana Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force run by the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office High Tech Crime Unit. The Cyber Crimes unit is growing in both capabilities and responsibility and is now responsible for investigating computer crimes and running a computer forensics laboratory.

The Cyber Crimes Unit will also assist on gleaning intelligence as to other possible criminal activities obtained over the open internet, such as drug activity, attempts to contribute to the delinquency of juveniles, or even planned school violence.
