Richard H. Benoit Memorial Firing Range
HUNTER SAFETY TRAINING:
State law requires that all individuals born on or after September 1, 1969 to obtain a hunter education certificate card prior to purchasing a hunting license in Louisiana. Individuals must be ten years of age or older to be certified. The course will cover such topics as firearm safety, survival, first aid and wildlife identification. The classes will be held at the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Firing Range located on LA 3127 in Killona, behind the Nelson Coleman Correctional Facility
Class size is limited to 30 students. Each student must pre-register and attend both dates.
TWO-DAY COURSE: (participants must attend both days)
Fridays: 6:00pm to 9:30pm
Saturdays: 8:00am to 4:00pm
Dates for full classes are: July 12th and 13th; August 9th and 10th; September 20th and 21st
FIELD DAYS FOR ONLINE PARTICIPANTS: (participants must attend only one day)
There will be 2 field days for individuals that have taken the course on line with the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
Saturdays: 8:00am to 1:00pm
Dates: August 24th and October 5th

CIVILIAN RANGE DATES FOR RIFLE SHOOTING:
Sheriff Greg Champagne will open the Sheriff's Office firing range to the public for rifle shooting only on the following dates: August 17th and 31st; September 14 and 28th; and October 19th and 26th. Hours will be 8:00am to 11:00am and Noon to 4:00pm

LOUISIANA CONCEALED CARRY CLASSES;
Citizens wishing to obtain their Louisiana Concealed Carry permit must attend an 8-hour training class in addition to complying with other requirements. These one-day classes are offered periodically throughout the year at our range.
