Crime Scene

The Crime Scene Division processes crimes, collects and secures evidence, and determines the facts of what, when, where, and how a specific crime occurred. In addition, the division handles licensing, permit applications, and sex offender registration.

National Standards Process

Once investigators arrive on the scene, they follow a national set of standards. The investigators:
  1. Obtain briefing
  2. Assess, sketch, photograph, and research the scene
  3. Identify evidence
  4. Collect trace evidence and fingerprints
  5. Collect, package, and label evidence and complete a chain of custody form
