Reserve deputies are a valued resource that supplement the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office regiments. These dedicated volunteers serve the community with no pay and are required to provide a minimum of 24 hours service per month.

Qualifications & Requirements

 
The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for anyone interested in becoming a reserve deputy. 

To qualify for the Reserve Academy, applicants must be 21 years of age, have no criminal record, have good moral character, and have received a high school diploma.  

The Reserve Academy consists of 90+ hours of training and takes approximately 5 months to complete. Classes will be conducted at the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Training Center during weekday evening hours. There will be at least 4 training sessions conducted on Saturdays. Training topics will include legal aspects, officer survival, police investigations, traffic services, and patrol operations.  For further information contact Laurie Mecum at (985) 783-6237.
