Network Support
Information Technology (IT) provides all network support through a help desk and end-user support coordinator. Technicians are on call around the clock to ensure the system is working properly. IT computer technicians also respond to ad hoc requests for crime reports and write / implement programs.
Wireless Network
Today, the IT network extends to every office operated by St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office as well as multiple wireless access points throughout the parish. The sheriff’s office microwave data links, also maintained / operated by IT, allow the transmission of data at minimal cost and are more secure and reliable than commercial landlines. The courts are able to communicate with inmates by video conferencing during arraignments all through the sheriff’s microwave links.
